As we all know, not all turtle breeds should be kept in captivity in our homes. Some of them are even considered as illegal if you have them as pets.
Here is a list of turtles which can be house pets in case you want to take care of one.
Red Eared Slider
This breed is one of the most popular of all the aquatic turtle species. They tend to be friendlier and more sociable. This breed is considered as generally to be housed indoors, but with the right shelter, cleaning and warmer temperatures, they can also do well in an outdoor pond.
Yellow Bellied Slider
This breed is also one of the most popular aquatic turtle species to keep as pets as they tend to be relatively hardy, providing they get the right diet, enclosure and lighting. This breed tends to be most active during the day, which appeals to a lot of owners.
Common Musk Turtle (Stinkpot)
This type of turtle breed is quite different from the usual ones because they're small, and their care requirements are a little less intensive than some. They are given the nickname “stinkpot” because they can be feisty and, if they feel threatened, they release a foul and musty odor.
